For our literature circles, my group is reading Turtles All The Way Down, written by John Green, and I seem to like the book so far. The main character is Aza Holmes, a 16-year-old high school student who has OCD and is paranoid of infections such as C. diff. I think that she is very bright-minded and speaks like a typical girl teenager. One day, Aza learns from her friend, Daisy Ramirez, that Russell Pickett, a CEO and billionaire, has gone missing, and there is a $100,000 reward regarding to his whereabouts. Aza personally knows his son, Davis Pickett. The two friends decide to join forces and solve the mystery together. I think that this conflict will add a lot of suspense and action to the story, which are key components to a mystery. The author wrote this book in a very descriptive and imaginative way; he describes things vividly, and he uses fun words that make the book amusing to read. This book is perfect for my age level, because since Aza is a high school student, and the setting of the book is a high school, I can understand the plot and the language she uses. I predict that Aza and Daisy will get to learn a lot about the Pickett family as the mystery unravels, but there will also be a lot of confusion about how the disappearance of Russell Pickett started. I think that at the end, Russell Pickett will be found and the Pickett family will become stable again, which will sum up the book in a realistic, happy way.
